Opening Night!

...was yesterday.

sorry I didn't announce it. This play has been rather hard for me though, and tedious, and exhausting so please do excuse the forgetfulness. However, my sister did video some of the songs and you can watch a couple here if you'd like to once i'm able to upload them. {cough, she wasn't supposed to...so i'm not posting these on facebook...just in case i get in trouble. cough}

so you should come. it's pretty funny if you don't think about it.

it's call The Drowsy Chaperone, and it is a musical within a comedy. and in the end the main character goes insane as the characters from his favorite record come alive and start actually singing to him. kind of odd and all around very random. and the songs are pretty catchy if i do say so myself...because they constantly get stuck in my head and i have to get them out with broadway's little mermaid or tangled.

so that's that. i hope you come and i hope you enjoy the show!

{the adjustment bureau}

"all i have are the choices i make, and i choose her, come what may."

i gotta say, this is probably my new favorite movie. it's got a ton of elements, thematic and artistic that i really admire and it just really kind of speaks to me. i'm kind of one of those suckers that believes in fate and destiny, but also choice and will...and this movie shouts out to both. it's about chance and desire, free will overcoming "the plan".

we make so many plans for ourselves too; at least that's what we think. i mean seriously - what if there are people out there making these choices ultimately for us? honestly that sucks. no offense, but i want to live my own life - not someone else's plan for me. even if it means the world ends...life was meant for choice.

{spoiler alert}

i loved how to film ended though - the ultimate message, that we have to fight for that will, the power to live our lives the way we want to - no matter how it ends up; we only deserve that power if we have the gut to fight for it.

it reminded me partly of something that my friend bro. haymond said {and i'm paraphrasing} that with excess liberty comes excess slavery. liberty, choice, decisions - they should all be ours, but given out freely like candy at a parade, we will never respect what we have. we will never fight, reach for more, become better. we will never rise above "the plan". instead we will simply accept what is good enough.

so it kind of makes me wonder, what kinds of plans does God make for all of us? do we follow strict plans and can we actually stray from those plans {personally i think...that God knows every exactly who we are and knows the true feeling of love, thus this story may or may not be possible in His sense}. but it's still an interesting thought process.

oh and i loved the hats idea, very clever indeed. haha

i admire the strength of the character david norris. first he sacrificed his own happiness of being with her for her supposed career, but then he reaches out - with help of course - and strikes out, making his own fate. i admire that.

anyway - it's late...yah...technically it's friday but it'll post as saturday, seeing as it is now 12:01. but yah - pretty sure this is my new favorite movie. i want it for christmas {okay mom?} haha just kidding.

Big Time Rush

My friend Kelsey (her blog Here), showed me this group - yah I know, they're kind of wannabe Backstreet Boys kind of deal but don't worry - they still have their own good stuff going on. Their names are Kendall Schmidt, James Maslov, Carlos Pena, and Logan Henderson (who happens to be my personal favorite) and warning: they sound just as bad live as Taylor Swift does. It's funny - so many of these famous people couldn't hold a candle to people of real talent; like my friend Miranda or my guyfriend Taylor (ohh man, his voice is nice). Like I said - real people.

Anyway - so this song is called "Worldwide". I just figured why not post it - it's not my favorite, but it's a good one. I'll post my real favorite after this video.

and "Count on You" featuring Jordin Sparks

So...more music. You know me - I like music...and you get lots of it if you read my blog. Anyway - pretty ok groupy - Big Time Rush, they have a tv show or something, probably not worth watching - most teen and kids shows are really lame and stupid like that, buuuut that is me and my big fat opinion. Enjoy anyway!

Letters to Juliet

A great movie :) I took my friend Brittani to go see it today and I just remembered how much I loved it the first time I saw it. SIGH.

In my professional opinion (I love saying and thinking I'm somewhat of a pro when I'm not) it was pretty well made. I might have chosen someone else to play Charlie but in the end you really do like the characters. I think Claire and Lorenzo's story is absolutely amazing and in my vendetta against the stupidity of boys that story gives me a ray of hope. :) I think the cinematography is beautiful, and it made me want to go to Italy really bad, the script and characters are well rounded and it's pretty clean. Sophie's wardrobe is a little bit low-necked but other than that it's a great movie. I think the relationship between Sophie and her fiance Victor is kind of humorous - he's so NOT in true love and she really wants something to happen . . . they're so wrong for each other and then Charlie comes and she hates him . . . it's all just humorous.

The first time I saw it I think I even cried, but I can't remember. My favorite part though is when he climbs up the vine to tell her he loves her - makes a fool of himself but the very moment he tells her how much he loves her . . . it's so beautiful.

I also really like the part where they're quoting something and it ends in "but never doubt my love" or something like that . . . I'm gonna look up that quote . . .

Aha! Shakespeare - here:

“Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.”
‘Hamlet’ by William Shakespeare

So beautiful. The magic of the movie fits the feeling of romance I'm sure is in Italy. So I highly recommend this movie as well. I probably don't have as much to say about this movie compared to The Last Song only because there was so little to critique about it, if anything. Of course I'm ignorant and slightly biased ;)

PS - interesting fact: the actor and actress that place Lorenzo and Claire are married in real life! :)

Marcus Gilbert

A long time ago someone asked me who my favorite actor was and me being the anti anything normal and girly thoughts said the old guy Mickey Rooney was my favorite actor but not so anymore: Marcus Gilbert is an amazing actor and my current favorite of all time. Ever seen the movie Legacy - the church movie? That's my favorite movie that he's in and then A Hazard of Hearts. He's just amazing; he acts the part of gentleman easily and so well . . . it makes me wish he had been born 40 years later.

One of my favorite quotes from A Hazard of Hearts was when he talks to young Serena and asks her whether she loves her cousin Nicholas and would rather marry him, she responds and tells Lord Vulcan (Gilbert) that he is in love with another lady. Then Vulcan asks if she has anyone and she responds "I am in love with no one my lord." Then with an almost coy look on his face he asks her "Shall I make you fall in love with me?" She looks at him with a mixture of surprise and fear on her face and then runs off into her room where she closes the door but peaks through a crack later to watch him walk away. Such a splendid film.

Then another favorite part of mine is where she overhears Lord Wrotham and Lady Vulcan (Justin - Gilbert)'s mother talking and plotting how to get rid of her but to gain her dowry and she runs off and runs into Justin and surprises both of them but seeing that it's him (Gilbert) she clings to him hugging him, as he is her only friend in that hostile house while he asks her what's the matter. It's just so romantic. I love it.

And then the scene where he finds out that she knows all their secrets and she offers her hand as agreement that she wont tell anyone and he examines her hands . . . tender

And then another time when . . . well haha might as well just watch it right? Right. But here's my favorite fanmade music video - love the song and love the movie so it's great -

And then if you want to watch the actual film - it's also on youtube in parts (that's how I watched it . . . couldn't find it at the library) Anyway - it was great. :)

Last words: I love Marcus Gilbert ;)

Doctor What?

Okay . . . so many people I know don't know what this is about but a LOT do. So there's this British TV series called Doctor Who. I often like it though not always love it but my sister and our friend are both avid followers ;) haha sorry you two - I'm teasing you, take it with sugar though - I love you both.

Okay so I just BARELY got done seeing the episode in the third series titled Blink. Wow. My last favorite when watching the first series was . . . I can't even remember but that one was my new favorite. Exciting, heart pumping and even though it doesn't include the Doctor as much he's a big part. But what I'm going to say is going to concern the two episodes before Blink titled Human Nature and The Family of Blood. Interesting titles I know. So . . . [spoiler alert] the Doctor turns himself human with no knowledge of his TimeLord existence and Martha is left alone to basically care for a weakling (sorry John Smith) but the Doctor/John falls in love with another human! So when the time comes for his human self to "die" and the Doctor to be brought back to save the day, he wimps out momentarily because of love, life and a beautifully normal human life. Which brought me to say something I thought very clever and which is what this post I think is really about. Here - I'm quoting myself ;)

"There is safety in normalcy and yet . . . there's power in living forever."

He can never know a normal life - living forever he will never live his life with only one true love, he's constantly switching forms and companions . . . and he's lonely. I find it so sad. Yes, it's a life of adventure . . . but never-ending? But then he's changing lives, he's rescuing universes constantly in need of his "protection". How do you choose? He can't choose. But in the episode The Family of Blood in a sense he did have a choice; not really (it was either a normal human life or the destruction of the world . . . not to mention Martha would never be able to go home and the glitches go on . . .) anyway, it's very similar to the Tuck Everlasting story. They chose eternal existence by accident and then asked Winnie to choose it by knowledgeable choice . . . and didn't choose it. And what about Eternity for us? I believe in an afterlife; so when we die . . . will we have something to do or suspended in eternal happiness? I dunno what the answers are to those questions. I just thought that I'd throw them out there. :)

But I also wanted to write this post because I wanted to make at least observations about Doctor Who.

1.) Ever time he meets his new companion and she realizes that it's bigger on the inside than on the outside . . . first she steps out . . . then back in . . . then looks around it . . . then back it. It's hilarious! Apparently the doctor notices too because when Martha first says "It's bigger on the inside" he mouths her words just as she says them. It's quite funny :D

2.) Also . . . when the mothers of the current companion first meet the Doctor and what he's all about . . . they slap him. That's it . . . just kind of funny is all :)

3.) So the title of the show is Doctor Who right? Right. Well . . . my sister told me that was because the people when they ask him his name he says "I'm the Doctor" but . . . I've never heard anyone say "Doctor who?" it's always been "Doctor what?" . . . what's with that? :D

I'm just being critical because I love it. I criticize things I love. So yeah - good show, I recommend it :)

Lots of Love!

KAYLLA

PS - wanted to use all my favorite pictures that I found but I'm only going to pick my favorites . . . depressing but after the last post I'm not ready to go all out again for a while. :)

PPS - [spoiler alert] the darker skinned girl is Martha Jones and the blond is Rose Tyler - the original of the newer series's companion. Rose is in love with the Doctor and he with her. Martha loves the Doctor as well but . . . he misses Rose. But she finds her own love - and requited love as well. :) so it all ends happy. (yay)

so yeh . . .

bye!

and for the second time - my name ;)

Lookalike?

Okay. Take a look at these pictures; the one on the left is Harry Lloyd in the bbc tv series Robin Hood and the one on the right is Matthew Goode from movies like . . . Leap Year and Chasing Liberty and probably some other cheapy movie ;)SO! My sister and I are always placing characters/actors from movies that we recognize, so like if we see a new movie and there is a familiar actor or actress then one of us has to name a movie or their name and a movie their in, whichever comes first really - mostly the movie part though. So . . . when I first saw Leap Year I was like "hey that's Harry Lloyd - from Robin Hood! It's Will Scarlet!" and I was so excited . . . until it wasn't. So I don't know about you but I don't really like lookalikes. They mess with my mind. Here's another one.

Okay so I know that in these pictures they don't look as much alike but in filming - I find it hard to tell the difference. You may recognize Camilla Belle (bottom left) from 10,000 B.C and When A Stranger Calls then Amelia Warner (upper right) from Lorna Doone and The Seeker or even Push. And no I haven't seen all those movies but I do know them by title ;) but I have seen most. OH and another good one that you would never guess. Ever taken a look at Keira Knightley or Natalie Portman bald? well if you do and put into perspective that Natalie's older then guess what!? You can barely tell them apart. Did you know that Keira Knightley was in Star Wars: Phantom Menace? I thought not! Apparently she was the decoy. Here - I really hate working with pictures and there are plenty of others . . . so I'm only gonna do like three more, okey? okay. Oh and Winona Ryder is claimed to look like Keira and Natalie but not . . . as much as they are to each other.

so Keira Knightly and Natalie. Both pretty good actresses - and both famous - and both in naughty films as well. So personally I don't like Orlando but I LOVE Rupert Friend. He plays Wickham in Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley and he also plays Prince Edward in The Young Victoria. Brilliant actor. Also British ;)
Do I need to tell anyone who these guys are? So the one on the left is Jude Law and one on the right is Ewan McGregor. Both very handsome . . . sometimes Ewan gets on my nerves.I'm not a friendly person - said that one before, I know a LOT of people like BOTH of these girls but personally . . . they BOTH get on my nerves. Nicole Kidman is not very pretty, sorry. and Amy Adams is a silly airhead. :) But . . . I'll give them the credit of maybe the benefit of the doubt. Sorry if I offend anyone. John Cusack and Matthew Macfadyen. Both very handsome, both tall, dark and handsome. Anyone ever seen Serendipity? Good film - John was amazingly brilliant as the lost lover with cold feet. And Matthew? His depth-felt depiction of Mr. Darcy (in my opinion) is right up there with the very best; namely Collin Firth. :) Both very good actors. Gotta love them ;)So Gwyneth Paltrow and the new Alice, Mia Wasikowska. Mia was AMAZING as Alice in Tim Burton's rendition. Oh man that movie was MAGICAL. I went and saw it for my birthday and I was just blown away by the collection of wonderful actors and actresses and they CUNNING skill (Mia definitely one of them), the effects, the well-written script (something hard to find), and the beautiful plot and story. BUT back to lookalikes - I like these two, both very moving actresses. I saw a trailer with Gwyneth in it recently - can't remember the title but she appeared to be playing the part just as heartfelt as she always is, just like in Emma. That was a beautiful film even if it wasn't my favorite Emma version to date. :) But that was NOT her fault, probably more the artistic aspect of it. Good cinematography but not my taste . . .
Has anyone NOT seen Batman? okay I'm one of the FEW FEW FEW who didn't know that that was where Christian Bale REALLY got famous. I always said "hey yeah the guy from Newsies" but no. It's Batman. The man who faced his fears. Okay so he's on the right and the guy on the left I didn't recognize but maybe you will, he's Peter Facinelli. So I can't comment on him because I just don't know who he is but he does look kind of cute. I dunno though - I don't like beards or goatee's and etc. :)

SO that's it with my commentary. I'm done now. I have a LOT more saved on my computer but these were the ones I really thought most people would know who they are. So yeah, if you end up wanting more of my lame humor and sarcastic remarks maybe tell me and I will think about posting the rest of my lookalike collection. Also . . . I should do a post on my favorite actor of all time: Mickey Rooney. sigh.

Okay so . . . I'm done now!
bye!

Magical/SciFi/Strange/etc Films

So there is a genre of films being made in our day that I don't really know what to call - scientific fantasy I guess. And for now - that's what I'm going to call them.

Ever since Digital movies have become "the thing" moviemakers have been going ALL out with the movies they make, blue screen, green screen, etc. etc. I'm going to discuss some good and bad ones. Of course I'll have to say that I've seen these movies but maybe one or two I wont . . . have seen . . . :D prejudgemental opinions.

Star Wars, the second trilogy that chronically comes first (I know - confusing) were some of the first movies really accepted into the movie making world as Digital. It was Lucas or whoever the guy who really pushed Digital movies. Good Plot, nice acting (though sometimes a bit of a corny script - sorry!) but AMAZING digital action! When I was younger I thought the scifi word thingy referred to the movie quality, now I know it's not BUT it has a big part because what would a movie like Star Wars without all that stuff? Just like the older trilogy, no offense but . . . some of those creatures and . . . stuff . . . were WAY high tech for that time but now . . . I'm just gonna say I prefer the newer trilogy. :)

But anyway - Star Wars is one of those classics, movies that you cannot live without; the perfect balance or adventure, horror, humor and romance . . . you can't ask for any better :D

So . . . my next victim: Harry Potter series. I love the movies. I actually saw all the way to movie - I think it was five at the time - before I even read any of the books. When I was younger and the first Harry Potter movie came out I wasn't allowed to see it because my mom didn't like the witchcraft aspect of it but later when we were older and didn't actually believe in it (cough I was still much younger than my older brothers and they brought it home for us to see . . .) :D and I literally memorized the entire movie I loved it so much. So. What really made that movie so successful? Would it have been such a hit if they'd made it in the old style instead of digital and effects and all that sweet stuff? To me it seems a ton of popular films were either the ones who were the head of the game IN THEIR DAY or the ones with the best effects or maybe just maybe the best story but if it's only a good story and not good with anything else, doubtful anyone will like it much. Sorry.

So Harry Potter is great, love it - maybe some classics there (the last couple so far were pretty dark for me - I don't know I like contrast of light and dark and Harry just seems so . . . obsessed with his darkness that he can't see his light) anyway.

Lord of the Rings. I just want to say I LOVE THESE MOVIES!!! aw man these movies are just rich in almost every aspect, not even joking. Scenery, Costumes, Effects, Character Development, Storyline, Script, Humor, Romance (just enough but definitely not a main theme), Fantasy (but Medieval in it's tone), and the list goes on! But of course this post is mainly focused on the effects of this movie . . . but maybe I'll sidetrack in a little bit. So the effects were very lifelike; one thing I have to complain about nowadays is that some movies with their effects - they look so RICH compared to the real images that they look fake. Make sense? Like . . . I would say some parts in Prince Caspian were like that. Y'know? But for the most part that I can remember, Lord of the Rings was a worthwhile film to watch and admire. I'm not joking when I say it inspires me every time.

So . . . I'm bored of this subject now, so I'm gonna say - I hope you enjoyed this! and my ranting on about movies and I'll talk t'ya later!

Bye!
