Price of Freedom

This is one of the most inspiring things I've ever heard. My school hosted this group of singers and their program last year and I had to babysit so when I heard they were doing it again this year, I KNEW that I had to go.

The songs are all dedicated to those who fought in World War II. It uses letters and short narrations to tell the stories of four men. One man and his wife are separated by war with their firstborn on the way. Then there is a mother and her two sons' stories. Then the last story is of a newly engaged man and his fiance.

Through the trials of war each man suffers greatly, losing friends, losing hope, losing love and some even losing their lives.

The musical numbers through all of this are spectacular. Each one moving in its own special way they express those poignant emotions that war forces from us.

My favorite songs included the Paratrooper's Prayer, Mother's Prayer, Brother At Your Side, Now that my Baby's Gone, Can I Do This On My Own? and Because Of You.

Our orchestra also did an AMAZING job at accompanying them, while our tech crew was great as well :) Written by Rob Gardner, it was a good show. For more information on it you can go to www.spiremusic.org/tpof
