people watching again. it's an addiction.

so wherever i find myself in life, i have always enjoyed one thing. people watching. whether it be the happy children playing in the leaves or the two teenagers obviously in love but who never seem to look at the right moment.

today i had a golden one. i took their order, a young couple with two little boys under the age of four and one baby in a car seat. they didn't order much, in fact they ordered one of our cheapest things. but they were nice. when their pizza was done at last, i brought their dipping sauces out with the help of one of the other girls bringing out their order.

they were so wonderfully happy. the wife was talking animatedly with her husband and it struck me in one phrase. they were best friends. they looked so simply and wonderfully happy. and maybe nothing was going right for them financially, or maybe they just weren't very hungry. but their happiness of contagious.

i even told one of the other girls i work with to take a peek and she agreed. they were definitely in love and even more so, best friends.

and i'm not entirely sure why that made me so happy, but it did. i want to be married someday like that, to my best friend. and i'm sure, we will only grow in love together. and i am so excited.

the end. so there's my people-watching story of the day for you.

nothing interesting. i pinky swear.

have you ever noticed that a post is usually much more interesting or inviting if you have a picture to go along with it? i have. especially on my blog dashboard reader where i can skim over the interesting titles and such of each recent post of all my blogs i follow. i usually will skip right over the ones without a picture because honestly...words are so boring looking.

so here. enjoy that.

oh and have you ever noticed the beauty of getting the things done that you said you would? take me for instance. my sprinklers spray nasty hard water all over my windshield at night and then the hard minerals get fried to the melted sand {also known as glass} and make it impossible to see and thus making it 60% more likely that i will be in an accident. but, guess who took the initiative and sprayed her windows with vinegar and then wiped them down again with windex.

i love sparkly, visible-through car windows. happiness right there.

oh and also coming home and realizing your sister gave you a drink without making you pay her for it. that was nice and very refreshing, even if it had bananas in it {because everyone knows that bananas are way too heavy to be in drinks...silly...}

and i've decided that basketball shorts and flip flops are the best combination for an afternoon off work. i didn't realize that not being able to wear shorts to work would be so hard for me. it is very very hard for me.

one of my brother's best friends and one of my best friend's brother is back from Indonesia. my family will be going to his homecoming talk this sunday and i am so very very excited. and nervous. i get nervous going to that ward due to bad memories of one red-haired boy and being surrounded by far too many cheerleaders who helped me make my life miserable.

i think that will be an interesting story. but i guess we shall see.

guess who got two dollars in tips today. yah i know not very much but it still made me happy. if i get another tip tomorrow night and the night after that i might go and buy myself a calzone. they smell good and they are much cheaper than buying a whole pizza.

getting my food handler's permit is so tedious. i hate that i had to pay $26 for that silly course.

there's going to be a meteor shower on sunday and monday night. i wish it were saturday night, because i really like watching shooting stars with my best friend.

i'm sure that those are all the random thoughts i have had today {besides the fact that i need to go do my laundry but you really didn't care to know that, did you.} so i hope you enjoyed that. and if not, that's okay too. i usually write for myself, and sometimes for you.

but today i was just writing to write.

and like i said - nothing interesting. i pinky swear.

girl talk, turtle boys, and fireflies.

at work last night we all talked briefly about our hearts.

for some reason they asked a lot about mine.

maybe because i got asked on a date...but didn't know what to do.

everyone guessed it was probably because my heart is someone else's.

and today? when he stopped by...

one of the girls asked, "is that him? turtle boy?"

i'd told her once my best friend's grandma has a turtle who ran away briefly.

because we talked about pets. and boys.

and the reason she knew? was because she said i started to glow.

i really need to let off of the fireflies diet.

"hello, Big Don's Pizza. this is kaylla!"

today wasn't the best day. in fact...i could list all the things that went wrong, but then this post would be considered far too long.

it felt like everything came right at me. there were no buffers, there was no help, and no one else to blame but myself and my own incompatibilities.

and there were moments when i just wanted to curl up and cry. but i couldn't because there was an order to do, or cheese to grate, toppings to re-fill, dough to be made and processed or all simultaneously. there were people who called in massive orders and another who completely cancelled her order because i couldn't finish all of them fast enough and my boss and manager had both left to deliver pizzas, leaving me completely alone to hold fort.

it was terrifying.

and i know that i will never ever desire to own any type of restaurant of my own. what could ever possess me to put myself under the exact kind of pressure i am terrified of? if ever i were to become an entrepreneur, i would go into a business that did not work directly with people like that. i'd much rather simply work in the kitchen the entire time than up front with those people's staring, judging eyes.

and my feet ache. it's a good thing i get a free pizza once a week, and get paid otherwise i don't think i could do this. i have to keep the end goal in mind.

college. oh the loveliness of getting an education thus making it able to have a job that you love. as my older brother told me; i have now discovered a reason to get an education: so that i am no longer stuck with a minimum wage job.

way to go education!

afternoon thoughts

last night a song went through my head about the fire on the mountain. there was a fire there once before when i was a child. those were scary memories to relive as i watched. i could see the flames even from as far away as i am.

why am i so afraid?

i go to work for real for the first time in an hour and a half. {thanks to our opening date being pushed back twice and my shift rescheduled almost as often...} but i don't want to go...because i may not be home for his phone call. my heart aches and i wish it were already saturday.

praying because the storm has moved north that he doesn't get rained on.

what kind of dreams does my dog have?

sometimes there are treasures to be found in the freezer...which maybe you weren't meant to find...but are still there and get found...such as cookies'n'cream ice cream. heaven.

i should eat a real meal before i go to work though.

will i finally get fat if i work at a restaurant?

the day-dream that keeps my heart alive right now: someday, maybe...reading out loud during a rainy sunday afternoon. i'm wrapped up in his arms and as we slowly fall asleep from the each other's body heat the words begin to slur and the world is lost to us.

really should be either finishing personal progress or my food handler's permit now...not blogging.

my young woman's leader brought by an extra girl's camp hoodie for me. i love her. and the hoodie.

will i still have nightmares when someday i am married to my best friend?

i love the song "little house" by amanda seyfried. still don't know how to say her last name...

today it rained. it was really beautiful. it rained on this day a year ago too. rather an odd {and wet} coincidence.

fear. it's an odd thing. we can be afraid of so many things but still go on. life always goes on. "time heals all wounds" kind of deal. we just have to trust that that is true and take one day at a time until it all washes away...like the rain.

my desire to write a letter to someone is very strong. anyone want one?

would you rather be paralyzed, blind, or deaf?

what if literal darkness could affect our internal darkness, the parts of ourselves that no one sees. would we then become different people if constantly surrounded by darkness? like jekyll & hyde... could one of them take control?

and what about light?
