A great movie :) I took my friend Brittani to go see it today and I just remembered how much I loved it the first time I saw it. SIGH.
In my professional opinion (I love saying and thinking I'm somewhat of a pro when I'm not) it was pretty well made. I might have chosen someone else to play Charlie but in the end you really do like the characters. I think Claire and Lorenzo's story is absolutely amazing and in my vendetta against the stupidity of boys that story gives me a ray of hope. :) I think the cinematography is beautiful, and it made me want to go to Italy really bad, the script and characters are well rounded and it's pretty clean. Sophie's wardrobe is a little bit low-necked but other than that it's a great movie. I think the relationship between Sophie and her fiance Victor is kind of humorous - he's so NOT in true love and she really wants something to happen . . . they're so wrong for each other and then Charlie comes and she hates him . . . it's all just humorous.
The first time I saw it I think I even cried, but I can't remember. My favorite part though is when he climbs up the vine to tell her he loves her - makes a fool of himself but the very moment he tells her how much he loves her . . . it's so beautiful.
I also really like the part where they're quoting something and it ends in "but never doubt my love" or something like that . . . I'm gonna look up that quote . . .
Aha! Shakespeare - here:
“Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.”
‘Hamlet’ by William Shakespeare
So beautiful. The magic of the movie fits the feeling of romance I'm sure is in Italy. So I highly recommend this movie as well. I probably don't have as much to say about this movie compared to The Last Song only because there was so little to critique about it, if anything. Of course I'm ignorant and slightly biased ;)

PS - interesting fact: the actor and actress that place Lorenzo and Claire are married in real life! :)
